Parle vous WTF!
We both love hockey and we enjoy its more aggressive nature. Fighting is part of the game, unlike baseball for example. With the exception of that time Nolan Ryan beat down that dude who rushed the mound. No one messes with the Ryan express!
Last week Quebec Major Junior Hockey League goaltender Jonathan Roy stepped over the line when he rushed down the ice to pick a fight with rival goaltender Bobby Nadeau. Jonathan Roy can be seen out of control in the video above repeatedly punching Nadeau before skating off and fighting another player.
Jonathan Roy plays for the Quebec Remparts who just happened to be coached and owned by Roy's father, the legendary NHL goaltender Patrick Roy. Both of the Roys are now serving multiple game suspensions for the fight.
Jonathan Roy can be seen standing around for the first 30 seconds of the video before something triggers him to start a fight with the rival goaltender. League officials claim coach Patrick Roy motioned for him to go down and fight. You'll see at about the 45 second mark the official trying to hold back Jonathan Roy before attending to the other fights.
"Quebec Remparts goalie Jonathan Roy was suspended for seven games, and Remparts coach Patrick Roy -- Jonathan's father -- was suspended for five games following Saturday's melee between their team and the Chicoutimi Sagueneens in a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff.
The league said Tuesday that Patrick Roy's suspension was for "prejudicial conduct" in the incident. Jonathan Roy's penalty was for barreling into opposing goalie Bobby Nadeau and repeatedly hitting him." (...more)
