Cho was an English major at Virginia Tech and just one day after the morbid killing spree by Cho, some of his writings have been released. The most disturbing is the play he wrote as part of a short story writing class. Entitled "Richard McBeef," Cho's bizarre play features a 13-year-old boy who accuses his stepfather of pedophilia and murdering his father.

The teenager talks of killing the older man and, at one point, the child's mother brandishes a chain saw at the stepfather. The play ends with the man striking the child with "a deadly blow. There are also mentions of government conspiracy covering up John Lennon and Marilyn Monroe's deaths. Richard McBeef is at one point described as a "bisexual psycho rapist murderer" after trying to molest the 13-year old boy. The mom grabs a chainsaw and chases Richard McBeef out of the house.
Then there's "MR. BROWNSTONE." Once again the theme of sexual abuse and wanting an authority figure to die and be tortured is evident. Cho uses the term "ass-raping" repeatedly and wants his teacher, Mr. Brownstone, to die. After winning on the slots, Mr. Brownstone claims the kids stole his seat and security comes. They promise to "beef-up" security to keep the gangster kids out.

Emily Jane Hilscher, a 19-year-old freshman from Woodville, was the first victim by Cho. After killing Emily and the RA on the floor, Cho went back to his dorm, loaded up with ammo, and wrote a disturbing letter left for investigators. There's no doubt he intended to die that day as the letter trailed off referring to himself in the 3rd person. The 9mm pistol used in the shootings was bought by Cho for a little over $500 in March, another indication that this was no spur of the moment decision.
